What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Teacher (HS) position at Pleasant Valley Community School District?
We have the following openings for the 2025-2026 school year :
Pleasant Valley High School
- English Teacher
- Must hold a valid Iowa teaching license including the 5-12 English / Language Arts endorsement (120)
- Preferred : Master's degree in English or Communications or master's degree with at least 12 graduate hours in a combination of the qualifying fields that provide a foundation in the specific subject matter being taught (a minimum of 6 credits must be from English or Communications) : Creative Writing, Journalism, Literature, Speech, Technical Writing, English Education

- Please share a lesson plan you would or have utilized with a group of students to address the following standard and learning target :
- Standard : RL.9-10.2 : Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail its development over the course of the text, including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; provide an objective summary.
- Learning Target : I can analyze how a theme emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details.
