Position Overview:
The Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the RV service department, managing a team of service technicians, and ensuring all service work meets company standards for quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader, capable of driving high performance, fostering a positive team culture, and managing the service department's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of service technicians, setting clear expectations for performance, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Build and maintain a high-performing, customer-focused service team by providing training, support, and leadership.
- Motivate staff to achieve department goals, including maximizing productivity, minimizing service delays, and maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Oversee the scheduling and delegation of service work, ensuring tasks are assigned according to technician skill levels and available resources.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by facilitating open communication between the service, parts, and sales departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Lead by example in providing excellent customer service, handling complex customer issues and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Regularly conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and team meetings to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Promote and encourage continuous improvement initiatives, driving innovation and operational efficiencies within the service department.
- Hold team members accountable for meeting deadlines, quality standards, and safety protocols while maintaining a positive, results-driven atmosphere.
- Cultivate a safe, organized, and productive work environment by enforcing workplace safety practices and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Manage the service department’s budget, tracking labor, parts, and other costs to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Identify opportunities for team development and training to continually enhance service department skills and capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Service Manager or in a leadership role within the RV, automotive, or a related industry.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to build, manage, and inspire a successful team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect with team members and customers alike.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on customer satisfaction and team development.
- In-depth knowledge of RV systems, service operations, and repair procedures.
- Familiarity with service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in performance management, including goal-setting, coaching, and providing constructive feedback.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications and training preferred.
- Previous experience in managing a service department or team is highly desirable.
