Job Description
Plexos Group is currently seeking a Cost Estimator to work with cross-functional work groups composed of internal and external department, local, state and/or federal stakeholders to be responsible for evaluating and estimating the costs of recovery and reconstruction projects following wildfire disasters. This role involves conducting site assessments, developing detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient financial planning for recovery efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct thorough inspections of wildfire-damaged sites to understand the extent of damage and the scope of necessary recovery work.
Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for recovery projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses.
Utilize cost estimating software and national cost data sources such as RS Means and Xactimate to prepare estimates.
Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to support cost estimates, ensuring they are traceable, verifiable, and defendable.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on project scopes and budgets.
Ensure all estimates comply with relevant regulations, including the International Building Code (IBC) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in cost estimation techniques and software.
Maintain a regular work schedule and work extended hours when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in disaster recovery or construction. Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., RS Means, Xactimate), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and organizational abilities are essential. Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCE/A) or similar are preferred. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to work under stressful conditions, be willing to travel to disaster sites, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to learn and effectively apply working knowledge of government organizations, operations and emergency management programs at the federal, state and local levels.

Ability to analyze problems, identify causative factors, and apply actions to effectively resolve current issues and prevent recurrences of problem conditions.
Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
