What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator - 1st Shift ($15.50/hr) position at PLI Cards?
We are currently hiring seasonal and core Machine Operators!!
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating up to three machines in the production process while adhering to PLI's high quality standards. To keep operations running smoothly, you'll also help us with daily maintenance by cleaning and preparing your work area for the next shift. You'll be able to identify and troubleshoot any issues after being trained by one of our experienced team members. As a member of our PLI team, you will contribute your individual skills and talents to help the team meet and exceed their goals and objectives. Most importantly, you'll work safely and efficiently while being able to stand and think on your feet for all or most of your shift. Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm with weekends and overtime as required
Pay: $15.50/hour

What you'll be doing:
- Safely and efficiently operate assigned machines and equipment, to include setup and basic maintenance
- Read, understand, and follow job instructions and safety regulations
- Detect, troubleshoot, correct, or report machine issues while maintaining quality production
- Perform necessary in-process quality checks to ensure output is consistent with quality standards
- Follow standard processes and procedures as established and assigned by Operations Lead
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned equipment and workspaces
- Assist other work areas as needed to help our team meet customer demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in an indoor setting, but may be exposed to variable temperature conditions indoor and outside (occasionally extreme heat or extreme cold). The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dust and/or mite hazards. The employee must be prepared to respond to emergencies should they occur. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
Requirements for our Machine Operators include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 years' related experience in a progressive, high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience or willingness to learn how to operate a variety of machinery
- A strong work ethic; you prioritize attendance and punctuality, you're reliable, and you have a professional attitude
- A strong attention to detail - this starts as a candidate and you'll show us throughout the hiring and employment process!
- A basic mathematical aptitude, computer skills, and general mechanical aptitude
- Flexibility to work in alternate areas or schedules to meet customer needs during peak periods, sometimes with little notice
- Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on a student or employer-sponsored Visa
You MUST be able to:
- Work overtime and weekends (extra hours or days) as required
- Read and understand documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detailed-oriented with good organizational skills
- Perform routine, repetitive work individually and/or as part of a team
- Work in manufacturing environment which includes, but not limited to standing for extended periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, talking, hearing, etc.
- Routinely lift/move up to 50lbs from floor to waist, waist to chest, twist and turn, and be able to push and pull loads using a pallet jack - we'll train you how to do that safely!
