Do you enjoy working with children? Do you want to make a difference? The Plowshares After School Program at our Franklin site is looking for experienced, enthusiastic, creative and compassionate individuals who enjoy working with elementary children for the rest of this school year with the possibility of returning in the fall. This position runs through June 25th.
Plowshares is a nonprofit childcare program that runs 2 After School programs in Newton. Our programs focus on social emotional learning while providing an educational, fun, engaging, and nurturing experience for children. We are looking for a few more superheroes to add to our team of educators. We encourage college students, musicians, dancers, athletes, artists/crafters, etc. to apply.
Each afternoon our educators:
- Greet/Welcome children as they arrive to the program.
- Assist children with snack/lunch.
- Follow a daily schedule of structured and unstructured programming to facilitate the learning experiences of the children.
- Support children with daily homework.
- Develop, plan and run a variety of activities and clubs based on own skills and interests of the children
Seeking Applicants who:
- Have experience working with children in a Kindergarten through 5th grade setting. (school, camp, childcare, etc.)
- Have a minimum of an Associate's degree (or some college courses in related area preferred). College students encouraged to apply.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and initiative.
- Are dependable.
- Are able to work with team to plan and run creative and interesting activities (including but not limited to STEM, Arts and Crafts, Gym Games, Performing Arts etc.)
- Able to keep children engaged during structured and unstructured activities.
- Can be flexible and are able to work in a team setting.
- Can maintain positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and coworkers.
- Are able to pass an EEC background check.

Monday 2:00-6:00
Tuesday 2:00-6:00
Wednesdays 11:00am-6:00pm
Thursday 2:00-6:00
Friday 2:00-6:00
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
