ABOUT
Our client is seeking a Network Manager to lead a small IT team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the city's critical IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on management role requiring both technical expertise and strong leadership skills to support the organization's networking, security, and infrastructure needs. The ideal candidate will balance technical acumen with a business-oriented mindset to align IT solutions with our client's operational objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and management for the IT team.
- Oversee networking, security, and infrastructure operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with city stakeholders and department heads to align IT strategies with business needs.
- Manage and maintain Cisco networking equipment, VPNs, firewalls, and Axiom camera surveillance systems.
- Oversee VMware environments to support the IT infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and government IT regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Architect-level knowledge to work with vendors and in-house stakeholders to design and support multi-site IT infrastructure solutions.
- Strong networking expertise, including Cisco routers, firewalls, and VPNs. Must have a working knowledge of macro networking concepts for the above as well as SD-WAN solutions.
- Experience managing Axiom camera surveillance systems.
- Hands-on experience with VMware including creation/installation of VMs running MS Windows, migration through vMotion techniques (both VM and storage), ESX and client OS patching and upgrades, as well as monitoring for performance and security.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize network security and IT infrastructure.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively across various departments.
- Skilled in conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficient in crafting and/or assisting in the development of formal proposals for securing in-house funding and Federal/State/Local grants.
