We are currently seeking a full-time Manager, Healthcare Analytics and Data Insights to join our on-site wellness team located in Jersey City, NJ.
Job Overview:
The Manager, Healthcare Analytics and Data Insights will report directly to the Optum Workplace Well-being Senior Wellness Director. The primary responsibility of this role is to represent Optum Workplace Well-being at our client and work cross-functionally with the client’s Benefits and Wellness leadership and team to provide reporting and data analysis, as well as input to strategy for metric definition, collection, and the client’s population health strategy. Additional duties include identifying and initiating additional business opportunities for both Optum Workplace Well-being and the client. Suitable candidates must be well versed in descriptive and predictive analytics as well as presenting their findings to a non-technical audience.
Using a range of analytical techniques and methods, tools and approaches, you will own and lead the generation of quantitative insights on people and health data. All methodologies must align to data privacy principles for safeguarding health data.
What you will do:
- Data collation, reconciling complex data sets.
- Exploratory data analysis.
- Hypothesis testing based on findings from exploratory analysis.
- Work cross-functionally, liaising with Benefits and Wellness leadership to set and execute on strategic agenda for population health metric collection and presentation with a particular focus on global & regional reporting and data analytics with cost outcomes for both.
- Establish, refine, and develop metrics that support population health management projects across Benefits and Wellness globally.
- Create interactive reporting (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to enable Benefits and Wellness leadership to efficiently and effectively understand and communicate client health trends.
- Collaborate with client’s data warehouse vendor to implement strategic reporting and data analytics strategy.
- Provide input on the development of ROI/VOI reporting for Benefits and Wellness programs.
- Collect, review and report on data from global teams.
- Provide data and reporting to support ad hoc requests from the client’s businesses, including data for reports required for regulatory, compliance or tax purposes.
- Use data analysis to identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve health outcomes, reduce claims experience and lower medical costs.
What we are looking for:
- Advanced computer literacy including experience of using MS Excel to connect to external data sources and constructing large/complex data sets to presenting the data through presentational packs
- Bachelor (minimum) or Masters degree in data science or equivalent
- Significant experience of analyzing data from a range of sources and working in a corporate environment
- Confident setting up the architecture and producing visual concepts using tools such as Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau or Qlik. NOTE. Knowledge of Tableau is paramount when working with the client.
- Familiarity with MI concepts, practices and procedures
- Experience and knowledge of SQL
- Demonstrable ability to apply data analysis principles to evaluate information effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills - be a logical thinker and have an analytical mind.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of reports and data sources and ability to design, generate and improve according to the needs of the business
- Able to demonstrate a clear attention to detail, ensuring that all relevant documentation including MI and report specification documents are accurate, meaningful, easily understood and fit for the purpose for which they are intended
- Strong background in data analytics, population health and project management
- Ability to synthesize large sets of data and expertise in running data queries
- Experience managing projects across multiple departments with various stakeholders
- Experience working with global teams
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.

Pay is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, certifications, geographic differentials, and other business and organizational needs. In addition to the hourly rate, Plus One offers a comprehensive benefits package (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements), which includes health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Plus One, an Optum Company, adheres to all federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements.
