Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a Youth Programming Coordinator to work at a high-profile retail client headquarters located in Beaverton, OR.
In this role, you will leading the planning and implementation of activities for youth, providing a best-in-class experience for participants and guardians, and creating a safe environment.
What you will do:
- Oversee and supervise all aspects of youth program activities in aquatics, rock climbing, sport coaching, sport clinics, and fitness activities.
- Work closely with on-site staff and vendor partners to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of where youth programming areas, ensuring that facilities and equipment remain clean, functioning, and of high quality.
- Partner with the health promotion, specialty programming, and operations directors to maintain, support, and achieve youth program goals and objectives.
- Build and maintain open lines of communication with managers, coordinators and staff to create a supportive environment.
- Consult on, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for youth safety, etiquette, and other guidelines to ensure a great member experience.
- Work closely with youth program directors to identify, assess, and support risk management efforts.
What we are looking for:
The Youth Programming Coordinator must possess a mix of education, relevant experience and key skills to effectively engage, support, and develop the youth population.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation Management, Youth Development, Childhood Education, or a related field.)
- Certifications (preferred, but not required):
- Youth Fitness Certification (e.g., NASM Youth Exercise Specialist, ACE Youth Fitness Specialist).
- Coaching or Group Fitness Certification (e.g., NSCA, ISSA, or USA Coaching Certification).
- Mental Health First Aid for Youth
- A minimum of 1 – 3 years experience in:
- Experience working with youth in fitness, sports, or recreation settings (e.g., camps, after-school programs, coaching, or PE instruction).
- Experience leading group activities (sports teams, fitness classes, outdoor adventure, or health workshops).
- Background in program design (creating structured physical activities, wellness programs, or recreational events for different age groups).
- Launching, developing, and maintaining health or fitness programming for youth populations.
- Internship relating to youth development initiatives at nonprofit organizations, schools, and educational institutions.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
- Effective and engaging public speaking skills with the ability to communicate professionally and appropriately with clients and participants.
- Excellent hospitality skills when working with adults and children
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a large team
- Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web applications
