What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research and Development Intern position at Plus One Robotics?
Summary:
As an intern on the R&D team at Plus One Robotics, you will help us explore and incorporate cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques that may be of use to our AI-vision powered industrial robotics system. Interns are responsible for implementing/adapting academic techniques for use in industry, carrying out experiments to evaluate applicability, and presenting results and recommendations.
This position can be located either in our Boulder, CO or San Antonio, TX office locations. Preference given to Boulder, CO.
Essential functions:
- Literature survey to recommend novel ML/DNN architectures for exploration
- Implementation / adaption of open-source code of selected models for experimentation
- Run experiments on cloud computing
- Present results and make recommendations for future development
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Senior-level PhD students in computer science, mathematics, or related disciplines
- Expertise with Python and PyTorch
- Working proficiency with the Linux OS, specifically Ubuntu
- Familiarity with AWS cloud computing
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Self-motivated
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have valid driver’s license
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will also have occasional work and exposure to robots, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites may at times be loud.

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and must be able to reach with hands and arms. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Intern, Full time, 40 hours/week between M-F, 9:00am-6:00pm for 12 weeks (Summer 2025)
- OR Intern, Part time, 10-20 hours/week while school is in session
Travel:
- No travel is expected
Work Authorization:
- Must be able to show documentation that shows authorization to legally work in the U.S.
