PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Assistant Superintendent, under the general management and supervision of the Project Manager, has primary responsibility to organize, direct, and control the work of field personnel and trade contractors so as to meet construction objectives of cost, quality, time schedule, equipment conservation and safety for all projects assigned.

Pre-construction
- Provide technical expertise throughout the pre-construction process.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors. Continually strive for zero incidents on all projects.
- Watch for and correct all safety hazards at the project. Report all safety incidents to the Project Manager.
- Understand the project estimate and budget format.
- Understand trade contractor and supplier contract scopes of work.
- Assist in quantity take-offs and pricing estimates.
- Coordinate the work of trade contractors.
- Schedule and procure tools and equipment necessary for the project.
- Receive materials delivered to the project and sign copy of bill of lading.
- Work with trade contractors to expedite their contractual obligations.
- Make periodic project inspections with architects, engineers, and other inspection agencies.
- Check on quality of work performed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- The Assistant Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for Construction Department field staff and other team members assigned to specific tasks on projects.
Education:
- High school graduate.
- Minimum five years of experience working with equipment and projects, preferably in a health care residential setting.
- Experience in successfully managing relationships with team members, coworkers, contractors, subcontractors, and other outside vendors.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy on a daily basis.
- Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
- Must have good communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Must have computer skills.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and Word, with the ability to learn and use proprietary software as required.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
