The Director of Talent Management plays a crucial role in fostering an organizational culture centered on respect, trust, excellence, and accountability within Plymouth Housing. Responsibilities include, People Strategy and Operations (PSO), Talent Acquisition and Labor Relations. Collaboration with the Leadership Team to advance cultural competency initiatives and embed principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization is crucial. The individual in this role is expected to create innovative approaches to applying equity and social justice values in Plymouth’s interactions with employees throughout the employee life cycle.
Plymouth Housing is a nonprofit organization that develops and operates permanent supportive housing for single adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. With apartment buildings throughout King County, Plymouth is helping the most vulnerable members of our community leave homelessness behind forever. At Plymouth, we’re not simply trying to get people off the streets. We provide supportive services like case management and health care so that our residents can thrive long-term. As part of our strategic vision, we are building internal behavioral health services and transforming our systems to address rapid growth and the changing needs of residents.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING IN THIS ROLE AT PLYMOUTH HOUSING
PSO Operations:
- Align department goals with the organization’s annual objectives in collaboration with the VP of PSO.
- Foster an adaptive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders.
- Lead and manage a team of PSO professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Oversee the successful delivery and implementation of all PSO programs.
- Establish and articulate clear goals and objectives for the PSO department.
- Provide guidance and support on employee relations queries and challenges.
Employee Benefits:
- Serve as a trustee, plan administrator, and fiduciary for certain benefit plans.
- Oversee effective management of all employee benefits programs.
Talent Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive talent management strategies.
- Design and implement a job architecture framework to shape career progression, talent mobility, and succession planning.
- Lead the Talent Acquisition team to develop effective sourcing and recruitment strategies.
- Collaborate with the L&D Director to design recruitment and interview training for internal candidates.
- Partner with department leaders to evaluate and optimize organization structures.
- Manage talent management technology in partnership with IT and HR Operations teams.
Employee Relations:
- Manage union relations, CBA administration, grievance/arbitration resolution, employee communications, and disciplinary actions.
- Assist with workplace investigations and ensure proper intake and response.
- Partner with the VP of HR to enhance overall employee engagement and well-being.
SOME KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES WE NEED FROM YOU
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of voices.
- 5 years of broad and - HR leadership in a fast-paced and agile organization.
- Creative yet pragmatic problem-solving skills.
- Have experience managing in a matrixed environment and developing talent.
- Ability to translate business properties into HR strategies, plans, and actions.
- Experience with - HRIS, ADP, and process automation.
- Experience with managing Union relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organization Development, or other related discipline or Education or experience equivalent to a four-year college degree is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
- 5 years experience in People Operations or Human Resources, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, interact, influence, and communicate at all levels with excellent verbal, written, and presentation communications skills.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing talent management strategies.
- Process design experience, including right sizing to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to drive impact on business objectives.
- Ability to build an overarching framework and system as well as individual processes.
- String track record in delivering both strategic and tactical/pragmatic solutions in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Strong consulting skills (e.g., communication, influencing, facilitation and stakeholder management skills).
- Excellence in written communication and project documentation.
- Excellence in communicating and presenting, especially with executive audiences.
- Strategic mindset with a willingness to be hands on as required.
- Must have experience working with Unions.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
