What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher position at Plymouth Language Program?
Plymouth Language Program (PLP) is seeking a Spanish Instructor for our Spanish 2 or Intermediate Spanish class.
PLP is a nonprofit program that offers free English and low-cost Spanish classes to members of the Lawrence, Kansas community and beyond. As one of our Spanish teachers, you will deliver high quality Spanish lessons to adult learners from diverse backgrounds and cultures. This opportunity is in-person at the Plymouth Congregational Church at 925 Vermont St, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Job Responsibilities:
- Create lesson plans and activities for a 10-week semester
- Deliver intermediate level lesson plans in a classroom environment
- Keep accurate records of student attendance
- Encourage and motivate students to speak in Spanish
- Collaborate with existing Spanish teachers in the program
- Monitor program email inbox and respond to students and volunteers as necessary
Job Requirements:
- Excellent command of the Spanish language
- Teaching experience preferred but not required
- Availability to work in the evenings (Tuesdays and Thursdays 1 hour between the time of 6:15 pm - 8:45 pm)
- Reside in Lawrence, Kansas or the surrounding geographical area
- Pass a background check (criminal and credit)
- Display patience and cultural awareness
- Ability to start teaching by Tuesday, February 18th, 2025
Pay: $45 per class (1 hour of class, plus 1 hour of preparation)
