QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possesses an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification with appropriate
categories.
2. Holds an appropriate and valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a good
driving record; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
3. A minimum of five years municipal and/or commercial experience in the trade.
4. Ability to assume skilled craftsmen job related duties required of a physically
demanding job.
5. Ability to pass any required or mandated trainings provided by the employer such
as OSHA requirements needed to perform any job related responsibility.
6. Certification of good health signed by a medical professional in order to be
appointed. Any further medical review as appropriate through a school
appointed physician.
7. A sense of humor and a proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner
with all staff members, students, and with the larger educational community.
8. Knowledge of SchoolDude work order computer system preferred.
9. Such job related alternatives to the above qualifications as the School
Department may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Facilities, Supervisor of Building and Grounds, Superintendent or
his/her designee
JOB GOALS:
1. To provide students with a safe, comfortable and functional environment in which
to learn, play and develop.
2. To maintain the school district vehicles and other stationary and mobile
equipment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs routine manual labor associated with skilled maintenance and repair
work on automotive and other power driven equipment.
2. Performs mechanical and electrical repair and overhaul of mobile or stationary
equipment; disassembles and rebuilds gasoline and diesel engines, replaces
clutches and transmissions, tunes engines, adjusts and replaces brakes and all
associated work in the maintenance on vehicles.

3. Uses and supervised the use of computer diagnostic equipment, electronically
controlled mechanic systems and other maintenance technology.
4. Ability to weld and make modifications/fabrications to equipment.
5. May instruct operators as to care and operation of complex equipment; test
equipment to ensure proper operation and may demonstrate operation in the
field.
6. Ensures the maintenance of assigned equipment and a safe, clean assigned work
area.
7. Submits material estimates, timelines, and required support staff to complete
specific projects.
8. Demonstrate a working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety
precautions of the trade.
9. Maintains the current school department work order database with the
appropriate training.
10. Coordinate job related hazardous waste removal with Town of Plymouth
environmental department on an annual basis or as needed.
11. May assist in the preparation of required reports and other documentation
relative to the operation of the department.
12. Communicates effectively with the appropriate stakeholders.
13. Ability to work with the following physical and environmental demands described
below, which are required to perform the essential functions of the job.
a. Physical: Requires periods of physical activity requiring the ability to stand
for long periods, walking, climbing, bending, and crawling. The ability to
lift, carry and position objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.
The ability to make swift and responsible decisions in emergency or
hazardous situations. The employee must be able to communicate both
through speech and hearing. The employee must have the ability to use
hands and arms in order to safely operate equipment and perform the
required tasks. The employee must have good vision either normally or
corrected.
b. Environmental: Frequent periods of outside work in all extremes of
weather. Interior work where the employee may be exposed to loud
noise, extremes of heat and cold, and the use of various chemicals, some
of which may be hazardous and require special handling. The employee
may be required to work on ladders, scaffolding or aerial lifts as well as
work in confined spaces. The appropriate training will be provided by the
employer. Certification after training is the responsibility of the employee.
14. Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be
designated by the Director of Facilities, Supervisor of Building and Grounds,
Superintendent, or his/her designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 hours per work day; 12 month work year. 5 consecutive days.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually
in accordance with procedures established by the
School Committee and the COBRA Contract.
SALARY: Per current COBRA Contract.
