ABOUT THE JOB:
The Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and
maintaining control systems to ensure the efficient and safe operation of machinery,
equipment, and processes. The Industrial Controls Engineer collaborates with
cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and production, to optimize
control systems and improve operational performance.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Control System Design: Develop and design control systems for industrial processes, machinery, and equipment. This involves understanding the requirements, selecting appropriate hardware and software components, and creating system architectures.
- PLC Programming: Develop and implement Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs to control and monitor industrial processes. This includes writing ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text code.
- HMI and SCADA Development: Design and develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for real-time monitoring, control, and visualization of industrial processes.
- System Integration: Integrate control systems with various components, such as sensors, actuators, motors, and drives, to ensure seamless communication and interaction between different devices.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues related to control systems, including hardware failures, software bugs, and communication problems.
- Analyze PLC logic and graphic programs to change or debug machine functions.
- Perform routine maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Process Optimization: Analyze industrial processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement control strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that control systems comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate hazards.
- Documentation and Training: Create technical documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and standard operating procedures. Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
- Project Management: Coordinate and manage control system projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Industry Trends: Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in the field of industrial controls. Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance control system capabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of four years related experience.
- Strong knowledge of control system theory, industrial automation, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams,
- and structured text.
- Experience with HMI and SCADA software, such as Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk.
- Experience working with AC/DC drives, load cells, temperature control, power distribution.
- and other machine control components.
- Familiarity with control system hardware, including PLCs, DCS, HMIs, and industrial networking technologies (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
- Experience with industrial automation software tools and platforms, such as Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), Siemens, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5, and Yaskawa DriveWizard.
- Understanding of electrical and electronics systems, including motor control, power distribution, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to industrial control systems.
- SOLIDWORKS ELECTRICAL experience in drafting and updating electrical drawings is preferred.
