Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our daycare team as an Assistant Teacher. The daycare assistant teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a Christ-centered, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children under their care. They assist in implementing lesson plans, providing for the physical and emotional needs of the children, and maintaining a safe and clean classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Lead Teacher: Support the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development of children.
- Supervision: Supervise and monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times. This includes maintaining appropriate child-to-teacher ratios.
- Child Care: Provide basic care for children, including feeding, diapering, and assisting with toileting as needed.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain order and discipline in the classroom by enforcing rules and guidelines for behavior.
- Curriculum Implementation: Assist in implementing curriculum activities that align with the daycare's educational philosophy and state standards.
- Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, development, and any incidents that occur during the day.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and inviting, including sanitizing toys and equipment regularly.
- Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities to stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years or older ONLY
- High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED; some positions may require a degree or coursework in early childhood education or a related field.
- Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting is REQUIRED
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry young children and/or heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Stamina to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods.
- Agility to respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring physical intervention.
Working Conditions:
- Typically work indoors in a daycare or preschool setting.
- May be exposed to noise, frequent interruptions, and occasional challenging behavior from children.
- Hours may vary but often follow a standard Monday-Friday schedule with daytime hours. Full-time 40 hours a week. 7:00am - 3:30pm. 30 min. lunch break.
