We’re looking for an experienced Membership Director who will be responsible for driving membership growth, retention, and engagement at the private club. This role involves developing and executing strategic initiatives to attract new members, enhancing member satisfaction, and fostering a vibrant community within the club. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, a strong sales acumen, and the ability to build lasting relationships with current and prospective members.
This individual will reside in the Leesburg, VA area. This is a full-time, onsite, exempt position that reports to the Area General Manager.

- Develop and implement strategic membership outreach plans to attract new members.
- Identify and target prospective members through networking, outreach, and community engagement; attend local events in the area keeping a finger on the pulse as to what is relevant to the club’s target market.
- Conduct tour introductions for potential members and new members, highlighting the club's amenities, services, and unique offerings.
- Track and report on membership sales and growth metrics to ownership and operations.
- Create and maintain membership acceptance calendar in line with ownership’s financial objectives.
- Manage oversight of member intakes and waitlist.
- Update ownership and operations on membership growth strategies and reports based on the current landscape and evolving needs of the club.
- Act as the in-house expert in the club’s CRM, i.e. Peoplevine, along with the Membership Coordinator.
- Create and execute member retention strategies, including personalized engagement plans and feedback mechanisms.
- Train and update FOH staff on membership specifics, activations, and events.
- Partner with operations to organize and oversee member events, social gatherings, and activities to foster community and enhance the member experience.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and manage member communication channels, including newsletters, emails, and social media.
- Work with operations to create systems for logging member food & beverage preferences.
- Manage protocol for suspending and revoking memberships.
- Work closely with other department heads (e.g., F&B, Events, Marketing) to ensure a seamless member experience.
- Oversee Membership Coordinator on all administrative matters.
- Provide leadership and support to membership staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Collaborate with owners and operations to align membership goals with the club’s overall mission and vision.
- Develop and manage the membership department’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded; working closely with finance team to ensure CRM reports accurately reflect membership financial data
- Monitor and report on membership revenue, dues, and fees, making recommendations for pricing strategies and adjustments as needed.
- Handle membership billing, renewals, and cancellations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Track and present data on membership demographics and develop strategies to achieve a well-balanced member mix.
- Work with in house counsel on any necessary changes for amendments to Membership Terms Conditions and/or House Rules .
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in membership sales or management, preferably within a private club, luxury resort, or hospitality setting.
- Proven track record of achieving membership or sales growth and retention goals.
- Strong sales and marketing acumen with a customer-focused approach.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, membership management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
