experiences as unique as the city they call home. The Director of Sales is responsible for achieving optimal occupancy growth in existing accounts and generating new business all to maximize total revenue and
meet/exceed hotel profit objectives. In addition to being a proven salesperson, the DOS must effectively
manage, mentor, train and inspire a results-driven team to succeed. They provide critical direction in
determining sales strategies while aggressively pursuing and securing leisure/ transient and group
business to maximize hotel revenue. This role will oversee day-to-day operations of the hotel sales division including but not limited to direct sales efforts, strategic follow-up, sales administration, and ongoing training. They are responsible for developing the sales forecast for the annual budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES AUTHORITIES:

• Build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, clients, and outside vendors.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Achieve monthly top line revenue goals and increase the hotel’s STAR market share.
• Proactively sell the hotel through face-to-face appointments with customers, tele-prospecting,
etc.
• Leverage emerging tools and technology to prospect for new business and have working
knowledge of relevant programs
• Effectively utilize all systems to their maximum capacity including information input, reporting,
understanding how all systems work together and utilizing key data.
• Evaluate potential business opportunities for the hotel and coordinate as necessary with the GM
and Revenue Manager
• Comprehensive understanding of Food Beverage’s impact on the hotel's overall performance;
manages the mix of booked business accordingly.
• Builds relationships, contacts, and business intelligence. Demonstrates community spirit
through involvement in local and regional organizations.
- Leads by example and trains sales team members to saturate accounts for maximum results.
• Participates with the budgeting process for top line revenue, group with Food Beverage mix as
well as sales expenses.
• Maintains awareness of the sales practices of the hotel's competitive set and is a "product
expert" when selling against them.
• Ensures adherence to all sales administrative processes and deadlines, including preparation
and submission of reports, budgets, and/or internal communications.
• Builds strong relationships and loyalty with top producing clients. Identifies and executes up-sell
opportunities.
• Effectively recruits, trains and mentors sales team members and fosters strong team culture.
• Plans, organizes, leads, and/or participates in hotel meetings including staff meetings, sales
meetings, etc. as part of the hotel’s executive team.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned by the associate’s supervisor.

• Local and regional market experience a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Travel/Tourism, Sales/Marketing or similar
preferred
• 5 years sales management experience in the hospitality industry, minimum 2 years with a
luxury property
• Previous experience as a luxury Hotel Sales Manager with a major luxury hotel brand
preferred.
• Minimum 2 years managing a team of sales managers (including outside/direct sales
experience)
• Experience in hotel and brand marketing
• Some experience or understanding of catering sales required.
