Medical Administrative Assistant/Front Office
PMC Medical Group, NH is currently seeking full time experienced Medical Administrative Assistants to join their busy practices.
Candidates must have strong computer skills, the ability to learn quickly and work confidently in a fast-paced medical office environment. Prior experience working in healthcare, or a pain management program is preferred but not required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Greet and direct patients and visitors upon arrival
- Assist patients and visitors (in person or over the phone) with various issues including but not limited to directions, paperwork and questions
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information
- Collect patient payments and insurance co-payments
- Answer incoming and transferred telephone calls; place telephone calls on hold as needed
- Relay phone messages to appropriate medical staff member
- Schedule patient appointments in person or over the phone
- Balance patient payments and insurance co-payments on a daily basis
- Follow office open/close protocol
- Distribute prescriptions to patients following office protocol
- Assist in transmission of medical records to patient and/or other entities as necessary
- Distribute medical records received via mail and/or fax to appropriate staff member according to office protocol
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Customer service, phone skills, typing skills, familiarity with office equipment, time management skills, multi-tasking skills, effective communication, ability to handle difficult situations and work under pressure, verbal and written communication skills, ability to collaborate and communicate with management and co-workers, ability to shift focus and reset priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate degree in health care or certificate in related field
Experience: 1-year medical office environment; experience with conducting prior medical authorizations, medical insurance and triaging phone calls preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with medical terminology and addiction/recovery programs.
