PMCO is hiring an Automation and Controls Technician in the food and beverage industry near Wanamingo, Minnesota!
- Pay Rate: $35–$45/hr
- Shift: Day shift
- Location: Goodhue County, MN
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize PLC systems, HMIs, and instrumentation to ensure reliable automation control.
- Maintain and service power distribution systems, motor controls, and frequency drives.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system failures to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automated equipment and instrumentation.
- Monitor, test, and validate PLC and control system functionality, ensuring seamless integration with production processes.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document maintenance activities and manage inventory.
- Assist with the installation, programming, and commissioning of new automation and control equipment, including utilities (compressed air, water systems, refrigeration, etc.).
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel and operators on control systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve system performance and reliability.
- Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, and sanitation guidelines to maintain compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training in industrial automation, controls, electrical systems, or PLC programming preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in automation, controls, industrial maintenance, or electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong expertise in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of power distribution, sensors, transmitters, and electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, and wastewater systems is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams.
- Skilled in electrical troubleshooting, motor wiring, and system diagnostics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Experience using CMMS or other maintenance tracking tools.
