Job Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead the operations of a power generation facility in Sunray, Texas. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong technical foundation in power plant systems, particularly in cogeneration or combined cycle setups. The right candidate will be responsible for driving plant performance, ensuring safety and compliance, and managing a team of skilled professionals.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead and manage daily operations to support safe, dependable, and cost-effective performance
- Supervise commissioning and startup of key systems such as heat recovery boilers, engine-generators, and plant controls
- Ensure timely testing, verification, and integration of plant components
- Provide technical leadership during project development, installation, and commissioning phases
- Ensure adherence to all environmental, safety, and company regulatory requirements
- Manage reporting and compliance with environmental agencies and NERC standards
- Oversee recruitment, development, and evaluation of plant personnel
- Build and control annual budgets, manage expenditures, and maintain inventory levels
- Enhance operational efficiency through resource planning and vendor coordination
- Maintain strong communication with corporate leadership, vendors, and external stakeholders
- Guide maintenance activities and outage planning, while documenting and analyzing performance events
- Recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance plant reliability, safety, and productivity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or a comparable combination of education and hands-on experience
- Minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory role within the power generation sector or a related industry
- Operational experience in combined cycle or cogeneration facilities
- Familiarity with compliance standards and plant operating protocols
- Understanding of plant chemistry, environmental processes, and water treatment systems
- Competency in budgeting, contract management, and cost analysis
- Ability to evaluate technical data, diagrams, and reports
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills under normal and emergency conditions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
- Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, stooping, and reaching
- Experience working with large frame gas turbines is a plus
- Must be open to travel within the U.S. (up to 50%)
