Production Manager Job Description
Oversee and manage production activities to ensure efficient, profitable operations while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Provide leadership, training, and development for production supervisors and employees, focusing on cheese and whey processing operations. Collaborate with plant management to set and achieve goals related to quality, safety, efficiency, and waste reduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations for food production, food processing packaging, and warehouse functions.
- Communicate facility and department goals to staff and ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
- Optimize processing parameters to maximize yields and meet customer specifications.
- Develop, implement, and update operating procedures to improve efficiency.
- Oversee inventory management for processing ingredients.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, food safety, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ensure readiness for plant inspections and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Lead recruitment, supervision, training, and performance management for employees.
- Promote a positive work environment through regular communication and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 5 years of supervisory experience in food production.
- Expertise in dairy manufacturing strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar systems.
