This role is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and coordinating the interior design layout, finishes, furniture, and equipment for educational facilities. You will work closely with both internal teams and clients to create functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.Minimum Qualifications : At least 6 years of professional experience in interior design, with a focus on planning, selection, and coordination of furniture, finishes, and interior layouts (experience with educational facilities preferred).A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field, or completion of 40 semester units in interior design or a related field with 2 additional years of experience.Key Responsibilities : Assist the Interior Designer in evaluating furniture, fixtures, and equipment needs for various projects.Develop space plans and interior layouts, selecting furnishings, equipment, and finishes in accordance with District and industry standards.Review and evaluate construction documents; visit project sites to confirm that designs and furniture selections meet safety, functionality, and aesthetic requirements.Ensure that furniture and equipment selections adhere to safety codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability guidelines.Assist in the development of project schedules and manage the installation of furniture and equipment.Communicate with manufacturers and vendors about custom products and design solutions.Create detailed reports and maintain records for furniture and equipment provisioning.Manage and update lists of furniture, equipment, manufacturers, and vendors used by the District.Coordinate product specifications with the District’s procurement office.Assist with interior drawings and visual aids for client presentations.Support on-site furniture replacements and manage related tasks as required.Required Skills : Strong understanding of interior design principles and color theory.Proficient in space planning, furniture and equipment specification, and project management.Knowledge of building codes, ADA, fire and life safety codes as they relate to furniture and equipment.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Bluebeam.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to create and deliver professional presentations.Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including F IG staff, facilities personnel, and school administrators.Why PMCS Group?
