Position Summary:

This position collaborates closely with the DEI Senior Director to develop procedures and policies and coordinate DBHIDS' internal and external DEI agendas. The work will include but will not be limited to supporting the development and operationalization of the department's racial equity strategic plan to 1.) Increase education and awareness of behavioral health and intellectual disability signs and symptoms for Philadelphia's communities of color by utilizing messaging resonating with their culture and reflecting the full spectrum of their experiences 2.) Diversify the behavioral health and intellectual disabilities provider network to ensure that Philadelphia's diverse communities have options to receive culturally humane and linguistically competent services from providers who look like them and share the same or similar cultural experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The DEI Operations Manager will work collaboratively across all DBHIDS divisions to model and promote inclusive and intersectional work practices utilizing the DEI team's 3- pronged approach of research, data, and target population input to inform all aspects of work-related efforts to transform the workplace culture into one that practices DEI.
  • Developing internal mechanisms to organize, standardize and monitor DEI, completing annual reports that outline the department's DEI activities and efforts, identifying grants and funding opportunities, writing, and presenting grant proposals, and monitoring staff compliance with the DBHIDS Department-wide DEI policy to ensure staff use DEI best practices and person-first language.
  • In addition, this position provides supervision and coaching to the DEI Public Health Coordinator, who is responsible for identifying relevant behavioral health and public health trends to develop and promote the department's DEI strategies, including DEI communications to increase staff and stakeholder awareness.   • Approach barriers with suggestions and solutions to promote innovative outcomes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the constantly changing environment head-on and accomplish DBHIDS’ and individual goals.
  • Demonstrate effective communication by appropriately sharing thoughts, ideas, and information both written and oral. Respectfully listen to co-workers and stakeholders to gain a full understanding of issues/situations.
  • Proficient with project management, written, oral communication, public speaking, and computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and Virtual platforms.

Education and Experience:

  • Masters in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Education, and other related fields.
  • Four to five years of relevant work experience
  • Two to three years of supervising.
  • Managerial experience (Preferred not required).
  • Bilingual verbal and written (Preferred not required).
  • Clinical Skills (Preferred not required)

Physical Demands:

  • May be required to work outdoors.
  • Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and/or repetitive wrist/hand movements for various lengths of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to utilize computers and office equipment to complete daily work responsibilities.
  • Requires continuous, normal hearing and vision.
  • Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuation in temperature. No protective equipment is routinely needed.
  • Must be able to adapt to continuous changes/demands of the job.

  • Participate in group and individual professional development.
  • Attend required Human Resources and DBHIDS training.
