Job Summary: The Authorization and Referral Clerks work under the supervision of the Call Center Coordinator to facilitate requests for authorizations and referrals under a provider's order for the Clinic Systems. This role is responsible for coordinating communication between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process requests from referring physicians via the electronic medical record, telephone, or fax.
- Request prior authorizations from insurance companies and schedule diagnostic procedures and appointments as necessary.
- Provide information to referring physicians' offices and notify patients of covered benefits and scheduled appointments.
- Initiate, maintain, and update tracking systems for incoming and outgoing referrals.
- Monitor each case from initial referral to completion and document all developments in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Perform other assignments as directed by the Call Center Coordinator.
Requirements:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using electronic medical records and other software applications.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.
