Warehouse Manager Job Description
The Warehouse Manager oversees operations at the warehouse and yard to ensure that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule. Duties include preparing schedules for Material Handlers, Drivers, Fabrication, etc., training new employees on how to use machinery and monitoring compliance with safety standards. This professional multitasker will manage and oversee the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities within the warehouse and yard, ensuring quality standards are met at every turn. The warehouse manager must achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate orders, and track shipping times.
Warehouse Manager duties and responsibilities
The Warehouse Manager completes various management, organization and planning tasks to maintain high performance of the warehouse’s storage and shipment processes. Their duties and responsibilities include:
- Understand and adhere to Pipe Movers, Inc.’s Mission and Vision Statement.
- Manage material handlers, fabricators and drivers, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
- Ensure employees operate at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing goals
- Work alongside Operations to develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, gate processes, and shipping
- Train and manage a warehouse team to solve day-to-day issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
- Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment utilization, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Ensure that warehouse practices and protocols are followed to achieve an efficient warehouse/yard
- Ensure drivers are following best practices and protocols.
- Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads
- Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees
- Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations
- Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service
- Schedule and oversee warehouse team to meet the demands of the fulfillment center, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee preventive maintenance as needed
- Meet regularly with branch manager to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention
- Collaborate with executive team for needed acquisitions or asset improvements.
- Oversee and manage logistics utilized to transport products to customers and internal facilities, communicating with drivers to ensure efficient delivery of packages
Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years' experience in a warehouse lead role or similar managing hourly employees
- Proficient knowledge of modern warehouse procedures and policy
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work with all levels of company staff
- Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to track multiple facets of the warehouse at a time – ie. Inventory, dispatching, employee scheduling, etc.
- Comfortable using inventory management software, company ERP system, Microsoft Suite and Payroll system
- Bilingual (English, Spanish).
