About this Position
In this moment of opportunity, we seek a leader who, with the full support and collaboration of the board, will focus on these priorities :
- Work with Board of Trustees to develop and implement a strategic plan that is aligned with our core mission, that assesses our programs, sets goals, and serves as a blueprint for the work of the staff and Board
- Lead the staff by keeping them connected with the agency’s vision, making sure everyone is clear on their roles, setting up targets, and providing guidance and feedback
- Help to make growth possible by renewing current grants and securing new opportunities
- Create new cultivation strategies for major and individual donors
- Be our ambassador in the community, meeting with state and county officials, raising our profile, demonstrating our impact and creating new partnerships
- Serves as the formal link between Board and staff
- Oversees program services, staffing, physical resources and funding
- Develops, manages and controls fiscal resources to ensure funding is sufficient to meet service needs and is used efficiently
- Ensures that all required reports and documents are provided in a timely and accurate manner to the Board, and to appropriate funding bodies and regulatory agencies
- Provides regular updates and recommendations to the Board concerning activities, progress and challenges
- Oversees the development of a written manual of administrative policies and procedures consistent with agency mission for approval by the Board; monitors its implementation
- Represents the agency to the public, funders, media, and other stakeholders
- Builds working relationships with community groups, service providers, government offices, and other relevant agencies
- 10 years of nonprofit experience, with at least 5 years in supervisory roles
- Proven skills in leadership, supervision, fiscal management and fundraising
- Track record of identifying, writing and securing significant grant funding
- Experience partnering with state and county government officials
- Experience leading an organization or team through a time of change
- Thorough understanding of substance use prevention and treatment theory and practice, mental health services to students, and landscape of relevant funders and sister agencies
- Graduate degree in human services, nonprofit management, or related field
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) and / or Certified Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC), or able to obtain credentials within three years of hire
