What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch Manager position at PNW Metal Recycling?
We are looking for an experienced Dispatch Manager to join our team! Key Responsibilities include:
- Planning and preparing daily routes and pickup schedules
- Work with new and existing customers on coordination of drop boxes or other sales
- Manage team of drivers
- Ensure DOT FMCSA compliance for maintenance, employee training, etc.
- May drive as needed
Minimum Job Requirements
- CDL A cert preferred but not required
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of Supervisory experience or previous Lead role
- 1 year experience working in the scrap metal or similar industry with good understanding of different metals and metal recycling process
- 2 Years of customer service experience
- Solid knowledge of DOT FMCSA rules and regulations
- Proficient on computer, with experience in fleet management system such as EROAD preferred
- Must be able to work M-F, including early mornings, late evenings, or weekends as business necessitates
- Solid mathematical skills
- Proficient with computer, previous experience with fleet management systems like EROAD preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand English
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Job Conditions:
This position will primarily be located indoors and have a desk location or office space. As our indoor locations are located in scrap yards, the position may work in all weather conditions and be exposed to the elements, as well as noise and debris. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times while in the work area of the scrap yard. PPE may include, but is not limited to: hard hat, safety vest, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields.
While travel is not required for this position, on occasion an employee may be asked to perform work at another of our local yards in the event of a lack of coverage. Our locations are dependent on our deadlines for special projects and our customer interactions, meaning that our scrap yards can become very busy during peak times. This can create unpredictable workloads, causing substantial pressure during peak times. Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays and holidays.

This position requires the employee to have the ability to sit rarely, stand and walk frequently on uneven ground; twist and turn at the neck and trunk continually. Employee must be able to communicate by speech to multiple areas of the yard.
Mental dexterity is needed while working independently to showcase attention to detail and continual awareness. Manual dexterity is needed to operate a computer keyboard, 10-key or desk phone.
Must be able to drive and have reliable transportation to commute between locations and job sites.
