Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to acquire goods and services for a company, ensuring the best possible price, quality, and delivery time by reviewing purchase requisitions, identifying vendors, comparing bids, and issuing purchase orders while adhering to company policies and procedures; they also monitor supplier performance and manage inventory levels.
Duties
- Analyzing department needs and verifying the accuracy of purchase requests.
- Identifying potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, and comparing prices to find the best value.
- Creating detailed descriptions of required goods and services to ensure accurate procurement.
- Sending out requests for quotes to multiple vendors to compare pricing and terms.
- Analyzing vendor proposals to select the most suitable supplier based on price, quality, delivery time, and other criteria.
- Creating and issuing purchase orders to approved vendors with accurate specifications and delivery deadlines.
- Tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery and address any issues with delays or discrepancies.
- Collaborating with departments to maintain optimal inventory levels by forecasting demand and adjusting purchase quantities.
- Inspecting received goods to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Tracking and analyzing spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate better pricing with suppliers.
- Issue supplies, parts, tools, and other materials to plant employees per company policies and procedures.
- Provide clerical services for the stockroom functions by receiving, processing, reporting and filing all paperwork relative to all stockroom inventory.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of stockroom items, per company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all parts have consistent numbering within the established inventory tracking system.
- Contribute to the loss prevention program of the plant by complying with workplace safety regulations, along with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain safe and sanitary work area; housekeeping and organizing of stockroom.
Skills
- Ability to effectively negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to achieve the best possible terms.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Working knowledge of parts, supplies and materials of a stockroom (supply room).
- Computer skills for basic data entry and retrieval of inventory information.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to interact well with others
- Good attendance record.
- Willingness and ability to work shift work and weekends, as necessary.
- Clearly communicating requirements to vendors and addressing any issues that arise.
- Ensuring accuracy in purchase orders, specifications, and vendor information.
- Managing multiple purchase requests and deadlines efficiently.
