MAIN FUNCTION:
The Export Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's export control program and ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and global export control regulations. This role is critical in managing the export and re-export of controlled goods, technologies, and services, ensuring that all transactions comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other relevant laws.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of export control regulations, risk management skills, and experience working with cross-functional teams to build a robust compliance framework.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Law, Compliance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., ECCN, ITAR, or other export control certifications) preferred.
- 5 years of experience in export control compliance, international trade, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing export control compliance programs in a global business environment.
- Strong understanding of EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and other relevant regulations.
- Experience with export license applications and handling complex compliance situations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and develop mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex regulations to non-expert audiences.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of compliance technologies and tools used for screening, reporting, and auditing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and global export control regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control), and other trade laws.
Export Licensing:
- Manage and process export license applications, technology control plans, and ensure that export licenses are obtained when required.
Training & Awareness:
- Develop, deliver, and maintain export control training programs for employees and stakeholders to ensure company-wide understanding of compliance requirements.
Audits & Risk Management:
- Conduct regular internal audits and assessments of export control processes and controls. Identify potential compliance risks and work with leadership to mitigate them.
Policy Development & Implementation:
- Develop, update, and implement internal export control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evolving laws and regulations.
Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate records of export transactions, licenses, and compliance documents, ensuring they are readily available for audits or regulatory inspections.
Third-Party Screening:
- Oversee third-party due diligence, including export screening of customers, vendors, and business partners to ensure they are not subject to restrictions or sanctions.
Regulatory Reporting:
- Manage the preparation and submission of export-related reports and filings to government agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of State, and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
Incident Management:
- Investigate and report any export compliance violations or breaches, implementing corrective actions as needed to address non-compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the legal, supply chain, procurement, sales, and operations teams to advise on export-related issues and provide guidance on compliant business practices.
Regulatory Updates:
- Stay current with changes in export control laws and regulations, ensuring that the company adapts to new legal requirements in a timely manner.
- Assists in other areas, as assigned.
