Job Summary:
Seeking a dynamic and innovative EAST Initiative Facilitator for our junior high program. The EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) Initiative is a student-driven, technology-focused program that empowers students to develop real-world problem-solving skills through collaboration, critical thinking, and community-based projects. The facilitator will guide students in using advanced technology, foster creativity, and promote self-directed learning while building meaningful connections between students and the local community.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate a student-led, project-based learning environment that aligns with EAST Initiative principles.
- Provide guidance and support to students as they explore technology and apply problem-solving strategies to real-world issues.
- Manage and maintain a technology-rich classroom, ensuring that students have access to the resources needed for their projects.
- Serve as a mentor and facilitator rather than a traditional instructor, encouraging student autonomy and collaboration.
- Build relationships with community partners to create authentic learning experiences and service-learning opportunities.
- Assist students in learning and utilizing a variety of software, hardware, and emerging technologies, including GIS mapping, video production, 3D design, coding, and more.
- Encourage students to develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills through peer collaboration and public presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, projects, and achievements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on educational technology and EAST Initiative best practices.
- Valid teaching certification (preferred but may not be required depending on district guidelines).
- Experience or strong interest in technology, problem-solving, and project-based learning.
- Strong facilitation and mentoring skills with a passion for empowering students.
- Ability to foster a collaborative and self-directed learning environment.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn EAST-specific software and technology tools.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, staff, and community partners.
- Previous experience with EAST Initiative or similar student-led learning programs.
- Background in STEM, digital media, GIS, programming, or multimedia production.
- Experience working with junior high students in a non-traditional learning setting.
