Special Education Teacher for the Visually Impaired (updated as of 4.15.25)

Job Status: Full time (190 days)
Reports To: Special Education Coordinator & Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY
Special education teachers will work both directly and indirectly with teachers, staff, and students with mild to severe disabilities, as well as provide Braille instruction to students who are visually impaired. Specialized instructions directly correlated with the general education curriculum will be provided to students identified with a disability. The special education teacher will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the student’s IEP, as well as assisting with modifying/accommodating the curriculum when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Arkansas Teacher Certification in Special Education
Arkansas Teacher Certification of Visually Impaired
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Provide Braille instruction.
Ensure due process timelines and paperwork are completed correctly.
Communicate with teachers, staff, parents, and administration.
Ensure IEPs are being implemented with fidelity.
