The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing the day-to-day maintenance and repair of Pocket Nurse and affiliated buildings, grounds, and equipment.

This position requires a valued technical expert who can deliver quality work on a consistent basis. The focus of this job is on producing high quality, error-free and detailed work based on defined regulations and standards. The job involves steady, consistent work so tasks can be completed on time and accurately.

Key Responsibilities and other duties/projects as assigned:

  • Conveyor Maintenance and Repairs - performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs associated with the conveyor system and other warehouse systems and equipment. 
  • Building, Equipment and Systems Inspection – performs a daily walkthrough inspection and records repair tickets.
  • Maintenance and Repair Tickets – timely completion of assigned tickets and adherence to preventative maintenance plans.
  • Electrical – performs electrical inspections and repairs including changing lighting ballasts, troubleshooting controls and sensors, and replacing motors and drives on the conveyor system.
  • Plumbing/Sewage – repairs or replaces basic plumbing and monitors sewage system and treatments.
  • HVAC – assists with inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance including filter changes.
  • Groundskeeping – maintains grounds including debris removal and provides snow and ice removal from the parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Office and Events – builds and moves furniture, cubicle walls and office equipment as needed. Helps set up, clean up, and tear down for corporate functions and events.
  • Housekeeping Assistance -  provides back up to housekeeping when staffing is low.
  • Safety – abides by OSHA rules and regulations by following all appropriate safety and security measures including lockout/tagout.  Maintains required testing and inspection recordkeeping data. Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and provides feedback for changes based on inspection results.
  • Vehicle Maintenance – assists in changing oil, brakes, and rotors for company vehicles.
  • General – painting and minor dry wall repairs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School and 2 years of related experience or equivalent of 4 years combination of education and experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical, and construction areas.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in plumbing and HVAC areas.
  • Knowledge and experience in conveyor systems a plus.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must possess or gain knowledge of OSHA regulations as it applies to Pocket Nurse.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and notify Pocket Nurse of a loss or suspension of driving license.
  • Must be available to work Monday-Friday 6:30am – 2:30PM or 7:00AM-3:30PM and be on call for evening and weekend work based on emergency business needs.
  • Must be available to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed.
  • Maintains excellent onsite attendance and punctuality.

The employee is occasionally required to work from a ladder for an extended period of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  No employee is authorized to lift and/or move weight over 50 pounds without assistance.

This role requires the individual to be able to understand, remember, apply, or communicate moderately complex information and problems and explore alternative solutions; organize and prioritize thoughts, ideas, and own work schedule; apply common sense, analyze and make decisions which have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside immediate work unit; express written and spoken word for internal communications and understand, interpret, and follow written and oral technical instructions, blueprints, schedules, and safety label directions; use basic mathematical skills including calculations using fractions, percent, or ratios; and operate a variety of hand and power tools and a forklift for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex systems and equipment.
