Broad Function
The Summer Camp Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the effective operation of PEEC’s Day Camp and Overnight Camp, and other year-round user groups as assigned. This position promotes a positive image for PEEC through professional leadership and supervision of staff, knowledge of PEEC’s activities and the ability to communicate PEEC’s vision and mission.

- Evaluate and improve existing summer camp programs based on client feedback
- Receive ‘excellent’ evaluations from over 80% of all groups individually and programmatically
Summer Camp Manager Responsibilities
The Summer Camp Manager serves as the “face” of all summer camp programming to assure quality, customer service, and a consistent point of contact.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff alongside the Director of Education. Serve as the primary lead in all summer camp training related to subjects including but not limited to: programs, scheduling, risk management, etc.
- Observe and evaluate camp staff. Provide opportunities for training and development to ensure the highest program quality.
- Support camp staff in their roles and assist with program delivery, camper supervision, and behavior management.
- Schedule and coordinate all weekly duties for camp staff including but not limited to: before and after care, van runs, late night shifts, overnight camp, etc.
- Coordinate logistics of all summer camp activities in conjunction with PEEC’s other programs and operations with Chief Operating Officer and Scheduling Coordinator.
- Handle all trip planning and logistics for any off-site experiences with the Chief Operating Officer and Scheduling Coordinator.
- Coordinate all parent communication and engagement ranging from marketing and camper recruitment, to updates and relevant information during the camp season. Initiate and secure feedback and recommendations to improve future summer camp offerings.
- Oversee daily check-in and checkout, van runs, camp meals, snacks, and water as well as weekly staff meetings and camp clean up.
- Communicate dietary needs to Dining Services weekly to accommodate campers with allergies and restrictions.
- Purchase program materials and necessary supplies. Coordinate management of inventory and distribution of materials and supplies through the camp season.
- Develop and maintain summer camp marketing strategies, including web-based, print and media distribution with the assistance of the Chief Executive Officer and Marketing Coordinator. Table and outreach on behalf of summer camp offerings year round.
- Maintain camper database with current accurate information.
- Serve as the host for other PEEC user groups as assigned outside of the summer camp season.
- Serve as the “on-site/on-call” manager on average one to two nights a week for overnight PEEC user groups. Serve as the “on-site/on-call” manager for the duration of any weeks of overnight camp.
- Teach summer camp or environmental education programs and classes on an as-needed basis.
- Attend trainings and events to innovate and grow summer camp programs.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED, and/or lifeguarding is desired.
Compensation
This is a regular, full-time, exempt position Annual salary of $31,000, along with on-site room and board. Additional benefits include accrued paid sick and vacation time off, 75% employer-paid medical/dental/ vision insurance, 403(B) program (with employer match of 7.5%), short-term disability, and life insurance.
