Vacancy Notice:
The Pocono Mountain School District wishes to inform you of the following posted vacancy for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Paraprofessional
- SEC
Paraprofessionals assist the teacher and/or individual students in all locations with daily instructional and non-instructional activities, student management and feeding, lifting and individualized care as necessary.
Qualifications:
- College Degree (2 yr minimum) OR
- Highly Qualified Certification from the state of Pennsylvania
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists students in academic classes.
- Assists the teacher in non-instructional duties.
- Performs as a tutor in individual or small group instructions.
- Assists students with classroom assignments.
- Understands and is aware of physical and emotional needs of students.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, homerooms, assemblies, recess, field trips and in the cafeteria.
- Assists with the implementation, not delivery, of the curriculum.
- Serves as a source of information for the substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher.
- Participates in training sessions as assigned.
- Alerts the regular and/or special education teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
- Assists students with toileting and loading and unloading of buses.
- Implements/follows teacher’s instruction of classroom procedures, reinforcement, philosophy and consistency.
- Assists the behavior management procedures and techniques.
- Checks student assignments and monitors testing and make-up work.
- Completes student logs to bill for Medical ACCESS for qualified students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary commensurate with the collective bargaining agreement. The selected candidate shall be chosen based on credentials, the ability to demonstrate job functions and the successful completion of interview(s) along with meeting all local requirements.
