Poehlmann's Lawn and Landscape is seeking applicants for our Landscape Garden Maintenance Technician position.
Health care and matching retirement plan available after probationary periods for those working full time.
For the company in general, days generally start at 7:00am April through October, Monday through Friday and possibly Saturday if rained out earlier in the week. Over the winter months start time is often 7:30 to 8am. The days end anywhere from late afternoon to early evening. Leaf cleanups continue through mid December and snow removal through out winter. Responsibilities:
- Perform landscape garden maintenance tasks such as weeding, pest and disease identification and treatment, strategic pruning, and litter removal at both residential and commercial properties throughout Columbia.
- Consult with clients as to their needs, requirements and expectations of their gardens.
- Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees in gardens and landscapes.
- Assist with spring and fall cleanups.
- Operate power tools and equipment for landscaping tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, vehicle, and work sites.
- Obtain either a Missouri Commercial Pesticide applicator license or Missouri Pesticide Technician license within 2 months of hire.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance or related field required.
- Knowledge to correctly identify plants.
- Knowledge of plant care and gardening best practices and techniques.
- Familiarity with grounds keeping practices and equipment.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, pull and drag 50 lbs.
