Duties
- Assess and manage student health concerns, including acute and chronic conditions.
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed, including IV insertion when required.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including infectious disease care and prevention.
- Collaborate with local health agencies to ensure proper care for students requiring outpatient services.
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state health mandates.
- Participate in the development of health policies and procedures within the school setting.
- Maintain a clean and organized health office environment.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of practice.
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology essential for effective communication and care delivery.
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center or similar healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
