Job Summary: The Sewer at United Shield International is responsible for operating sewing machines to join, reinforce, or decorate textile products, particularly those used in personal ballistic and fragmentation protection equipment. This role involves working with various materials to produce high-quality products according to company standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities: 

•  Operate Sewing Machines: Use industrial sewing machines to sew, join, and reinforce materials used in ballistic and fragmentation protection products.
• Material Handling: Select appropriate materials and threads for each project, ensuring they meet the required ballistic standards.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on sewing machines and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production and materials used.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

1. Technical Proficiency:

   • Sewing Machine Operation: Skilled in operating industrial sewing machines, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
   • Material Knowledge: Understanding of various textiles and materials used in ballistic and fragmentation protection products.
   • Quality Control: Ability to inspect and ensure products meet high-quality standards and specifications. 

2. Attention to Detail:

   • Precision: Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
   • Consistency: Maintain uniformity in stitching and assembly to meet product standards.

3. Problem-Solving:

   • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues with sewing machines and materials.
   • Adaptability: Adjust techniques and processes to accommodate different materials and product requirements.

4. Physical Dexterity:

   • Hand-Eye Coordination: Excellent coordination to handle intricate sewing tasks.
   • Stamina: Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks efficiently.

5. Safety Awareness:

   • Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
   • Risk Management: Identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks.

 Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing of protective equipment.
• Skills: Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines, attention to detail, and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Language: Able to understand basic work and safety instructions in English.
• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A
• Independence: Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
• Metric System: Ability to use metric tape, read, and understand the metric system.
• Physical Requirements: 
  • Requires sitting for a prolonged period of time.
  • Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Requires repetitive movements with fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Requires good vision, arm-hand steadiness, and manual dexterity

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise and moving machinery.
• Hours: Full-time position with potential for overtime.
