Systems Integration Engineer

Summary:
This position is responsible for deploying, integrating, and maintaining complex hardware and software systems within data centers, central office locations, POP sites, and field cabinets. This role involves working with critical physical infrastructure components, including AC and DC power systems, HVAC, and generators, to ensure seamless integration with network infrastructure. Position plays a pivotal role in the deployment and integration of local ISP access systems, data routing systems, and other network technologies, ensuring that all components perform optimally and cohesively. Requires a strong technical background in system integration, an understanding of physical infrastructure, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, all while ensuring the highest standards of reliability, performance, and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the deployment and integration of hardware and software components related to local access systems and routing systems within data centers or other inside plant locations.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical infrastructure, including:
- AC and DC power systems
- HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems
- Backup and primary generators
- Electrical panels and other power distribution equipment
- Perform detailed configuration and testing of hardware and software systems to ensure all components work together effectively and meet operational requirements.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support for all deployed systems, including power, HVAC, and routing systems. Resolve integration issues to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, networking, and facilities teams to ensure smooth integration of all systems and components.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation related to hardware installation, software deployment, integration processes, and troubleshooting steps. Ensure all changes are documented accurately for future reference and compliance.
- Ensure that all systems adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company-specific guidelines. Stay up to date with the latest best practices in systems integration and infrastructure management.
- Manage the deployment of hardware and software components across multiple market distributed networks and/or data center locations, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience (3 years) in systems integration within data centers, including AC/DC power systems, HVAC, backup power (generators), and routing systems.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling systems, and backup power solutions.
- Direct experience with hardware and software deployment, integration, and troubleshooting in a complex IT environment.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, local access systems, and routing technologies.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel as needed to different markets and/or states.
- Certifications related to data center infrastructure (e.g., DCIM, DCS, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience with automation tools and deployment framework preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced power systems, generators, and HVAC systems in data center environments and small site environments preferred.
