Position Summary
Deliver best in class thinking and service to the oil and gas, marine, and energy markets through listening, applying intelligence and responding, every time. The Fabrication Department is responsible for the fabrication of raw materials as needed to manufacture quality Point Eight Power products in a timely manner. The overall objective of the CNC Helper is to function as an effective and valuable member of the Point Eight Power Fabrication team by helping & learning all activates concerned with producing parts by operating a CNC machine. As an effective and valuable member of the department, this position is responsible for completing jobs as scheduled, while meeting our quality standards. Consistent and accurate modeling and representing of the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Essential Accountabilities
- Support the effort of being a best-in-class manufacturer
- Assisting the CNC machine operator in creating all the parts that are required by the parts list, as dictated by the program list.
- Assisting in the repair maintenance of the machines, as required.
- Organizing completed parts for the next phase of manufacturing.
- Completing works in process tickets to assure accurate inventory counts.
- Performing necessary side operations during machine cycle time, such as pulling metal for next program, maintaining and sharpening tools, and replacing tools as necessary.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized work area.
- Developing competencies in order to become a CNC machine operator

- Performance objectives, and their related measures, are determined in relation to the Strategic Plan; these are presented in accordance with Point Eight Power’s “Policy, Objectives, Leadership Commitment and Communication” procedure.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma/GED, Required
Experience
- Less than 1 year of sheet metal fabrication experience, Required.
- Less than 1 year of CNC operator experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Intrapersonal Skills: Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include Allen wrenches, grinders, break press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears and calipers
- Technical Experience: excellent mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, ability to visualize 3D parts from cut sheets. Good math skills and qualified in basic computer skills.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as AS 400.
- Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires basic skills (ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.)
- Math Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Physical Requirement: Demanding. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Employee must be able to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Conditions vary per work site: can be high heat, high humidity, exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.
Overtime: Required
Hours: Monday to Friday 3PM to 12AM, Must be open to some weekends
