Test Technician III - Belle Chasse, LA
Position Summary
Deliver best in class thinking and service to the oil and gas, marine, and energy markets through listening, applying intelligence and responding. Every time. The Production Department is responsible for the delivery of quality Point Eight Power products in a timely manner in order to support our efforts of being a best in class manufacturer. The overall objective of this position is to perform testing and troubleshooting during the final assembly phase of electrical control and distribution equipment prior to client delivery to ensure product excellence and optimal functionality. Consistent and accurate representation of the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values, and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Essential Accountabilities
- Demonstrate technical skills with regard to performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing for reliability on Low, Medium, and Arc-Resistant switchgear and electrical control equipment using tools such as voltmeters, multimeters, etc. (see Mechanical section under Knowledge, Skills and Abilities).
- Verify and document that electricity is able to flow uninterrupted, HIPOT tests on copper bus, conduct lockout/tagout procedure, and all components within the unit operate at the specified current level with supervision.
- Investigate, advise ECRs/CARs/NCRs, ensure final product is consistent with technical schematics, perform basic device programming, and repair all custom-built equipment prior to client shipment as a measure of quality control.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests to ABS regulations using industry compliance standards, such as IEEE and ANSI, to show the functionality of Point Eight Power products and advise of interfacing capabilities with clients’ existing equipment under the direction of senior team members.
- Identify functionality or defects through visual and electrical inspections on power distribution equipment, and assist senior team members with maintenance or repairs within testing guidelines.
- Assist senior team members with design verifications and product reliability demonstrations during client witness testing activities under supervision.
- Act as resource to provide expertise and technical guidance to Wiremen or Field Service Technicians.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma/GED, required.
Experience
- 2years of experience working as a Wireman 1st class, preferred
- 2 years of experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, preferred.

- Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Design – Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include: MPRT, Secondary Injection Unit, Digital Ratiometers, CT tester, Digital Multimeter, Fluke Meter, Laptop CPU with software for PLC and Relay communication, AC and DC voltage Hi Pot, High Voltage Testers, Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches), Testing Jumpers (alligator clips).
- Computers and Electronics – Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills – This position requires intermediate skills (Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.)

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Physical Requirement: Demanding. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Employee must be at to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Conditions vary per work site: can be high heat, high humidity, exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to radiation, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 6am-4:45pm, Friday 6am-2pm, Saturday 6am-12pm
