Job Description:
What We're Looking For:
- Three years of direct experience in electronic payroll processing in a medium to large organization
- Strong knowledge of federal and California payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to navigate HRIS system, Workday experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and payroll compliance requirements.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to resolve payroll issues independently
- You have an eye for detail and are familiar with balancing/reconciliations
- Self-motivated and able to work within deadlines independently, with a team-oriented approach
- Ready to tackle new projects/systems with a positive attitude
- Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and support the Payroll team by providing clear guidance on payroll policies, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective communication across all levels.
- Deliver excellent customer service by communicating clearly, respectfully, and supportively with a diverse population of employees and colleagues.
- Oversee and process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Prepare and provide payroll reports and data to HR, Accounting, and other internal/external stakeholders to support compliance, audit requests, and operational decision-making.
- Act as liaison with third-party vendors to ensure tax liability accounts are reconciled and processed within established deadlines
- Develop expertise in the Workday payroll system, actively participating in system updates and enhancements that impact payroll functionality.
- Completes quarterly and calendar year-end processing of payroll and coordinating with outside vendors for W2 distribution
- Manages taxable benefits for employees, ensuring accurate payroll records and compliance with applicable regulations
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and California payroll laws and regulations
- Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with campus community.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Experience in multi-state payroll preferred
