Role Overview
The CTO will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the firm’s technology infrastructure, ensuring high-performance trading, data management, and security. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise in quantitative trading systems, market data infrastructure, and cloud computing, alongside strategic vision for scaling a technology-driven hedge fund.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop the fund’s technology stack, including trading infrastructure, market data pipelines, and risk management systems.
- Lead the design and implementation of trading systems.
- Oversee the development and optimization of proprietary research and data analytics platforms.
- Ensure robust cybersecurity and regulatory compliance across all technology functions.
- Build and manage a high-performance technology team, including engineers, data scientists, and quant developers.
- Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and traders to enhance trading strategies and execution capabilities.
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies, such as machine learning and alternative data sources, to drive innovation.
- Develop scalable and resilient cloud and on-premise computing solutions to support real-time and historical data analysis.
- Establish best practices for software development, infrastructure monitoring, and system reliability.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles within quantitative hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, or high-frequency trading (HFT) firms.
- Strong expertise in designing and managing trading infrastructure, including execution and order management systems (OMS/EMS).
- Deep understanding of low-latency networking, distributed computing, and algorithmic trading architectures.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C .
- Experience in managing systematic trading systems and data platforms.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing top engineering talent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a focus on innovation and execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machine learning and AI-driven trading strategies.
- Familiarity with FPGA acceleration, GPU computing, and hardware optimization.
- Previous experience in a start-up or greenfield hedge fund environment.
