Director - Public Policy and Community Engagement
Job Title: Director – Public Policy and Community Engagement
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Summary:
Reporting to the Director - Corporate Development, the Director - Public Policy and Community Engagement leads strategic development and bespoke execution of PointOne’s government & community affairs initiatives in markets where PointOne has a presence. This person is the primary point of contact and representative of PointOne when interfacing with local governments, charitable organizations, and other local stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Government Affairs & Public Policy
- Acting as the primary point of contact with local municipalities economic development departments, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Actively meeting and partnering with local stakeholders to understand their community’s specific interests and needs.
- Developing and executing strategic community centered development plans tailored to each municipality.
- Creating and presenting effective materials communicating the value of PointOne operating within a municipality to local stakeholders.
- Acting as the primary point of contact with statewide economic development (or similar) bodies.
- Representing PointOne’s interests with data center industry groups and initiatives.
- Build lasting and trusted relationships with local groups in the states and counties in which PointOne has a presence.
Community Engagement
- Creating and driving tailored execution plans that utilize company resources to benefit the communities we operate in.
- Owning the community engagement strategy and execution of all events and programs.
- Oversee the prioritization and execution of charitable events in the community.
- Managing initiatives with attention to detail and a high bar for quality that represent PointOne’s objective to be a partner with the community.
- Proactively address issues that pose reputational risks to PointOne’s mission. Serve as the point of contact for community-centric issues and concerns.
- Communicate the impact of programs both internally and externally.
- Represent PointOne publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Utilize multiple communications channels including, but not limited to newsletters, the intranet, social media, and email campaigns to drive awareness and involvement in community engagement initiatives.
- Support expansion programs by assessing and identifying potential community related risks and develop a community engagement plan to proactively mitigate the risks.
- Manage data sets that quantify PointOne’s community engagement efforts and communicate these values internally and externally.
- Be physically, on-the-ground in locations, roll up sleeves and get work done when required.
Qualifications:
- 10 years professional experience in Public Policy, Communications, Community Engagement or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience in the data center industry and fluency with industry trends and the prevailing issues and concerns.
Necessary Skills:
- Able to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, real estate, energy, water, sustainability, construction, human resources, legal, public policy, and public relations to deliver results.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
