Service encompasses all aspects of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indian’s governmental operations. Position Summary : Provide skilled nursing care for the Education / History and Culture Programs.
Essential Functions :
- Assess participants’ health needs and problems (emergency and non-emergency) and provide professional nursing assistance with preventive health maintenance and treatment of illness and injuries through application of the Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and Standard of Professional Performance defined by the American Nurses Association.
- Establish respectful, compassionate, and therapeutic environment by providing culturally appropriate support toparticipants.
- Evaluate participants’ health and environmental safety.
- Record and report symptoms and changes in participant’s conditions maintaining accurate, detailed patient profiles, reports and / or records.
- Administer camper (and staff) prescription medication as directed.
- Dispense over-the-counter medication as appropriate.
- Protect participants and operations by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures and keeping information and records confidential.
- Follow universal precautions, aseptic techniques, and personal protective precautions required as appropriate.
- Assure patients’ rights and privacy are respected and advocate for patient; acknowledge and maintain patients’ rights of confidential issues at all times and follow HIPPA guidelines.
- Contact parent / guardian to review participant’s medical needs prior to camp.
- Collect medication and verify participant’s medical profile at check in.
