Role Overview:
Pokagon Band of Potawatomi is seeking a Staff Accountant and Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. Staff Accountant Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience in cash receipts management, accounts payable, and/or payroll.
Senior Staff Accountant Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive, relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Backup support in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Per Capita Functions.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation.
- Conduct variance analyses to identify and address irregularities.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, collaborating with relevant departments as needed.
Senior Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, submit, and post bi-weekly payroll promptly and accurately.
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring all entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation, relating to monthly recurring transactions, accruals, deferrals, reconciliations, and one-off adjustments, as required for accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with GAAP and/or GASB.
