The Rigger / Tower Inspector will inspect and maintain tower facilities / structures and associated equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) at Summit Station, Greenland to ensure safe operations and optimize performance.
As a Rigger / Tower Inspector you will :
- Perform tower condition assessments per TIA-222-G protocol.
- Perform maintenance if concerns are identified during inspection.
- Plumb towers as needed and adjust guy tensions.
- Remove accumulated frost / snow from structure to prevent excessive tower top weight.
- Provide tower mapping.
- Provide written assessment of each tower, including but not limited to : AWO MET Tower and AWO mast inlet tower.

To be considered for the Rigger / Tower Inspector position you will need :
And it would be great if the Rigger / Tower Inspector had Current Tower Climbing Certification; Familiarity with OSHA approved fall restraint and fall arrest systems and similar devices required to work safely above the ground; and / or Wilderness or other Medical First Responder training.
WORK SCHEDULE FOR A RIGGER / TOWER INSPECTOR
This seasonal position requires deployment to Summit Station, Greenland . A short duration deployment is anticipated between the months of from April and August and require working a minimum of 54 hours per week. This is a remote, polar environment with limited infrastructure and extreme weather conditions.
Job offers are contingent on the completion of a satisfactory background check and may include physical and dental examinations as required by the National Science Foundation.
