Polar Field Services, Inc. is seeking a resourceful and resilient Seasonal Science Technician for a unique winter experience at Summit Station, Greenland. This challenging yet rewarding opportunity offers immersion in a remote and breathtaking Arctic environment.
Dates of Employment: Approximately October 15, 2025 - February 15, 2026

Responsibilities:
- Safely conduct remote polar work.
- Follow detailed science protocols.
- Operate, maintain, and repair diverse scientific instruments.
- Perform sampling and thorough documentation.
- Communicate effectively with researchers.
- Maintain accurate logs of relevant events.
- Coordinate science sample and resupply shipments.
- Provide regular and end-of-season reports.
- Train incoming replacement technicians.
- Adhere to safety plans and report all incidents.
- Perform heavy lifting and other physical tasks.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of work.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Operate polar vehicles as needed.
- Assist with general station maintenance and cleaning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering AND 2 years relevant experience (or equivalent combination).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work with scientific instrumentation.
- Proven experience working outdoors in varying conditions.
- Valid driver's license and current U.S. passport.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job and endure Arctic conditions.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Fieldwork experience in science or engineering.
- Experience with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Skills in light mechanical and electrical repair.
- Experience in remote technical support.
- Familiarity with UNIX/command line interfaces.
- Knowledge of Python or R programming languages.
- Experience with networking equipment.
- Ability to work on climbable towers.
- Experience in isolated, small-crew settings.
- Prior work in cold and/or polar environments.
Work Schedule:
Varied daily schedule with some tasks required 7 days a week (lighter workload on Sundays). Integral member of a 5-person winter team. Occasional additional hours and schedule flexibility based on weather and work demands are necessary.
