What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Polaris Law Group, LLC?
We are seeking a sharp legal assistant for our busy law firm who can help our attorneys and paralegals assist our clients and keep the office running smoothly. You’ll work with the team to prepare a variety of legal documents, and handle office correspondence like answering emails and phone calls, scheduling meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Experience in legal drafting a plus, but not required.
Compensation:$20 - $22 hourly
Responsibilities:- Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals
- Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
- Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested
- Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and informing the team of upcoming deadlines
- Work with attorneys and paralegals to create a variety of legal documents, including utilizing legal document creation software
- Proofread documents for accuracy
- Correspond with clients to obtain necessary information
- Meet with clients to obtain necessary signatures
- Assist potential clients with scheduling appointments
- Complete legal research as necessary under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals
- Assist our team with other tasks as directed
- 1-2 years of prior experience in a law firm environment as a secretary or administrative assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree is a plus
- Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute
- Applicants must have excellent communication skills and organizational skills
- Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs
- Experience with legal software and client management software is a plus, but not required
