Position: Payroll Assistant – Part-time

Position Summary
Reporting to the Payroll Administrator, the Payroll Assistant plays a key role in supporting administrative and operational support in the HR team. This role is responsible for processing the weekly time and leaving information for assigned staff in PAL’s Human Resources Information System. In addition to the processing of time records, this position will also be responsible for monitoring the information submitted by employees for inappropriate leave usage and overtime errors. Ensuring that the appropriate codes are used to process payroll. Reviews the daily transactions reports, escalates any errors to their supervisor and processes any corrections. This role will be responsible for pulling reports to monitor employees' time and leave balances, leaves of absences. This individual will support investigating employee inquiries in a timely manner and ensure employees are not overpaid or underpaid by reviewing their paycheck information during the pay week. In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting other key HR administrative and clerical functions for the department.

What You’ll Do
Payroll Administrative Support
- Reviews and identifies errors or missing data on timesheets and communicates to staff and managers to ensure timesheet completeness for payroll.
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Provides assistance in entering and paying all wage garnishments.
- Process property payroll transfer reports. Ensure benefits deductions are accurate.
- Support the Payroll Administrator to conduct audits ensuring accuracy and maintaining data integrity.
- Check time sheets of varies departments for errors, overtime.
- Ensure employees are completing timesheets weekly – follow procedures for staff reminders and emails regarding time sheet completeness.
- Filing of personnel data status forms, voluntary deductions.
- Updates and maintains a list of issues/items to track changes in payroll.
- Prepare standard manual checks on payroll and escalate issues to Payroll Administrator in a timely manner.
- He/she will support training initiatives and the payroll team to coordinate suitable training solutions for employees
- Learn the functions and protocols of the payroll team in order to assist timely and accurate processing of PAL’s payroll, identify areas to make improvements for efficiency and accuracy and make recommendations.
- Provide support for Payroll Administrator and the Director of HR in payroll reports or other reconciliation or audit reporting for the HR department.
- Support other critical administrative HR functions as requested by the Payroll Administrator.
- Support other areas of HR as needed and directed by the Payroll Administrator or the Director of Human Resources
- Promote open communication and a culture of feedback within the organization.
Who you are/What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate's degree in accounting, Human Resources, Human Business Administration, or related field;
- 1 years of experience in Payroll Administration or payroll processing
- Payroll system software (e.g., Paycom preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Data Management and or other reporting tools is preferred
- Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
- Excellent Microsoft excel skills and quality control checking, data management
- Excellent organizational skills and Detail-oriented
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present information effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
