Position Purpose: Perform a wide range of transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high degree of accuracy, integrity, and honesty. Maintain accurate transactional records. Provide a variety of member savings, share draft/checking, and credit account transactions, as well as member services such as sales of money orders and traveler's checks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
2. Provide comprehensive, prompt, accurate, honest, and efficient member transactions.
3. Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and accurately enter deposits into computer records.
4. Process withdrawals from accounts and/or share draft/check cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawal into the system accurately. Cash share drafts/checks from a variety of accounts upon proper verification according to credit union policies and procedures.
5. Assist with mail or e-mail transactions, when available.
6. Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
7. Issue and post money orders.
8. Balance cash drawer at the end of shift and compare total amount to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. May help other tellers’ research and resolve discrepancies.
9. Ensure that teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
10. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulation for the teller area, with particular attention to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and robbery procedures.
11. Cross-sell credit union services such as debit cards, credit cards, on-line banking, or other promotional products when available.
12. Receive consumer loan and other payments and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into computer.
13. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.
14. Act as back-up to the Head Teller, in their absence on such tasks as balancing and maintaining the vault, kiosks, and coin machine. Balancing the branch, ensuring checks are scanned; assist with opening and closing the Teller Department, ordering cash, setting alarms, and securing all vaults and building when applicable.
15. Assisting with scheduling and staffing coverage in the teller area.
16. Assist Call Center with overflow calls as deemed necessary and within Teller station volume.
17. May be required to work at other branch locations on an as needed basis. As a result, employees may be asked to travel between locations, where starting and ending times are slightly different from their primary branch location. Employees may also be required to participate in the Saturday staff rotation.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Incumbent will have a minimum of three (3) years strong and accurate cash-handling experience in a banking/credit union environment along with excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. AA degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
